Mainland Vintage Suppliers

Every product we make starts with a decision about where to source it. We go out of our way to work with small businesses, US-based suppliers, and companies we genuinely believe in - makers and founders who care about their craft, their communities, and the people they work with. We're proud to support them, and we think it's worth saying so.

The same is true of the organizations we're part of. From our Brooklyn neighborhood to the broader maker community across the country, the connections we've built are as much a part of Mainland Vintage as anything we make in the studio.

SFIC

F US SB

A California family business making glycerin soap the same way since the 1960s, when founder Alex Sr. began experimenting with small batches in his San Francisco home. Based in Concord, CA.

What we source: Soap bases

Brambleberry

W US SB

Founded by Anne-Marie Faiola in Bellingham, WA, and a cornerstone of the handmade soap community for over two decades. Watching her tutorials during the early days of the pandemic is what first got Sara into soap making - which means Brambleberry is, in a very real way, part of why Mainland Vintage exists at all.

What we source: Fragrances and ingredients

CandleScience

F US Eco

Founded by brothers Daniel and Mike Swimm in Durham, NC. Started in a 400 square foot garage and now the largest distributor of natural soy wax in the US. They offer carbon neutral shipping - the first company in their industry to do so, at no extra cost to customers.

What we source: Fragrances, ingredients, and product packaging

Vinevida

US Eco SB

Miami-based supplier of carrier and fragrance oils, sourced from over 40 countries. They're Leaping Bunny certified - meaning no animal testing anywhere in their supply chain - and their shea butter comes from women's cooperatives in Ghana.

What we source: Carrier and fragrance oils

Nurture Handmade

W F US Eco SB

Founded by soap maker Carrie Jack, who has loved the craft since 2004. A woman-owned, family-run small business built by crafters, for crafters - with sustainably and responsibly sourced products and an extensive on-site recycling program.

What we source: Mica powders

Uncle Andy's Tools

US SB

The tool behind every satisfying cut in our soap videos. Made in the USA and sold through a small Etsy shop out of Minneapolis, MN - if you've ever watched one of our ASMR cutting Reels and wondered what we use, this is it.

What we source: Soap loaf cutting tools

The Boxery

US SB

Where we get our shipping boxes, and the supplier that started us down the path of looking more carefully at where we source our packaging. Once we realized smaller, values-aligned companies existed for things we'd been ordering on autopilot, it was easy to start integrating brands like this to our roster.

What we source: Shipping boxes

CustomPack Box

US SB BK

Our soap boxes come from Saad and the team at CustomPack Box, a small Brooklyn-based business. They were helpful and responsive from the very first conversation, and there's something genuinely satisfying about getting our Brooklyn-made soaps packaged in boxes made right here in the borough too.

What we source: Soap boxes

National Shrink Wrap

US Eco SB

A New Jersey company that has been in business for over 30 years. We use their Biolefin film - a biodegradable shrink wrap that degrades 90% faster than standard film and breaks down into biomass within 3 to 5 years.

What we source: Biodegradable soap shrink wrap

noissue

Eco SB

Built specifically to make sustainable packaging accessible to small businesses at low minimums. Our branded tissue paper is 100% compostable, printed with soy-based inks on FSC-certified paper.

What we source: Branded tissue paper

StickerYou

Eco SB

A small Toronto-based business that produces our product labels. Fast shipping, consistently excellent quality, and eco-safe label options made with post-consumer recycled materials and water-based inks. A sticker company we're excited to work with.

What we source: Product labels

GotPrint

F US SB

A family-owned printing company founded in California in 2001, independently run with no outside investors. Their paper options are what won us over - our business cards are printed on a textured linen stock that feels handcrafted rather than corporate, which is exactly right for Mainland Vintage. Great quality at prices that actually make sense for a small business.

What we source: Business cards

Park Slope Copy Center

BK SB

Our neighborhood print shop, a short walk from the studio. The turnaround times are fast, the quality is always great, and knowing the people behind the counter is the kind of thing that's easy to take for granted until you think about how rare it actually is. The labels they've printed for us over the years have been part of how we've been able to grow.

What we source: In-store printing

Howells Wood Products

US Eco SB

Chris Howells built this business in Redmond, OR from the ground up after a difficult season of loss, using equipment from his family's cabinet shop and sustainably grown American lumber. He's now the largest wood soap dish manufacturer in the US!

What we source: Wood soap dishes and soap bags

Scent + Sprout

W BK Eco SB

Jennifer hand-pours every Mainland Vintage candle in Brooklyn. Every order from her own line plants a tree - a small detail that says a lot about how she runs her business. We stocked up for the year before she headed out on maternity leave, and we'll be back in touch when she returns.

A Personal Note from Sara

Not everything that goes into Mainland Vintage comes from a business. My brother 3D prints the molds we use for our custom soap designs, and my sister-in-law made all the iron-on logos on the aprons we wear at our workshops. I come from a pretty crafty family - and getting to build this brand alongside them, even in small ways, is one of my favorite parts of doing this.

A nonprofit initiative of the Pratt Center for Community Development, supporting manufacturers and makers across all five boroughs since 2003. Mainland Vintage is one of 1,900 member businesses - a community built around the idea that making things locally matters, economically and culturally.

NYC's nonprofit artisan and maker guild, established in 2007 and entirely powered by its members. A community of around 300 makers who help each other grow - through selling opportunities, promotion, and the kind of peer support that only comes from people who actually understand the work.

A New York-based nonprofit advancing gender equity and economic inclusion in the global artisan and maker economy. Nest has supported over 250,000 artisans across 120 countries through programs built around the belief that handmade work - and the people who do it - deserves serious investment.
